Challenge #4 Spill It! The requirements were 1 large picture, some blending and at least 1/4 page of journaling. (The 4 elements requirement was later dropped)

Credits: sky paper (altered) from Anna Aspnes' Wander kit (Dsigner Digitals)
torn mat from Kathryn Balint's Little Jake Collection: Album (Kathryn Balint)
lined notepaper from Kelly Sauvage from the Kahtryn Balint & Friends Collab kit Road Trip USA
bird and nest (altered) from Betty Jo Martin's Birdsong Cottage (Escape and Scrap)

Journaling:

Empty Nest
I am approaching the time in my life where my sons are testing their wings and will soon leave the nest permanently. I have mixed emotions about this. On the one hand , I will miss them and the time spent watching movies together or sitting around the supper table talking of everything and nothing.
Other times the empty nest can’t come soon enough. I look forward to the days when I don’t have to join the PTA or attend parent-teacher conferences. I’m looking forward to “me” time. I’m looking forward to being able to thoroughly clean every room in the house and to decorate all the rooms the way I want. It will be nice not having to share my car. It will be nice to plan meals around my husband and mine’s preferences and not have to take at least 1 or 2 other people into consideration. These thoughts make me feel selfish because I am a mother and my sons have come first ever since they were born.

Your jounaling is so true. What a beautiful layout. The bird in the nest is just perfect for this.

Perfect! Everything you write about is so true. Such a time of mixed feelings. It's been many years since I have experienced this with my own two boys, who are now 48 and 45 and now it has been grandchildren leaving the nest. Life is beautiful. Thanks for helping me remember.

Carol, this is fabulous. Mixed feelings are hard to deal with, but you've shared it so eloquently... fabulous layout!

Carol this is awesome! Your journaling is so good and I remember those feelings well. Love the way you incorporated my bird nest, without the eggs. xoxo

Wow, Carol. This is sucha powerful layout. The journaling is fabulous. Of course, I feel like I'm really behind because I haven't even completed Challenge 3 yet.
