Letters From the Past
my journaling: 2/15/08 A year ago I was in the middle of sorting my mother's old letters and I made this 8.5x11 size scrapbook page for an album of my retirement projects.
Mom and Dad moved to Oregon in 1970. To my delight, as I hadn't remembered, I wrote her very detailed letters about my life, my family and our community. Mom had saved all of them. (I have all of her letters, also.)
This letter from March, 1974 had all the details of redecorating my sons' attic bed rooms. These are my treasures and I am so glad that she saved them.
Pink letter from 1974: I have been working on Brett's room for nearly two weeks. I scraped and sanded the walls, filled the holes and attempted to fill the numerous cracks, then I put a primer coat on. We've had quite a time with colors. I had gotton him a bedspread with the colors in it he wanted - lime green, lemon yellow and purple, plus a few other colors in an abstract plaid. I wanted to get lighter colors for his walls. He wanted the walls green and the ceiling yellow. Well I ...
(this project will be a page in itself later!)
Scrapbook page journaling: 2.25.07 Mom loved to write letters and send out cards for birthdays, holidays and special congratulations. She also loved getting them from her family and friends. I think she saved almost every one she ever recieved. So it has been a labor of love the past eleven days sorting through every thing of hers that I have stored for the past six years. There is so much love and caring in each item. It is all quite amazing. I know that she enjoyed and appreciated every single thing that she ever received. For our family there is a rich history of their lives in those letters. I have loved looking back at the ones that I wrote and I think that they will each want to do this also, so I will be getting these to them all soon.
I was able to get all of these letters to my family and they did appreciate my efforts.

You are so blessed to have found the letters your mom saved. I'm sure you'll put them to good use with lots more of your "storyteller" LOs that I enjoy so much!
