Journaling reads:
"Mia was due on Christmas Day and Brandon came home from
training on December 17th. I had been having some problems
with high blood pressure and was on bed rest for a couple of
weeks to prevent toxemia. We asked the doctor if we could induce
labor so that Brandon could be here for her birth. The
doctor said they would use high risk labor as an excuse so on
December 22nd, we went in the delivery ward to begin. They
started around early and every 4 hours or so, they gave me some
jelly stuff. I was slowly becoming more and more dilated but
it wasn't enough. In the evening, they decided to stop for the
day but I was too far along to send me home. They gave me something
to knock me out for the night and said we would start again in the
morning. I slept really good that night and the next morning when
they started again, it worked really well. I started having some mild
contractions which was fun to watch on the machine. I couldn't really
feel them at first, we had to watch to know when they were happening.
They soon became much stonger and more painful. Oh wow it was so
painful. They broke my water for me which was the weirdest and most
gross thing ever. I never knew how much stuff comes out when that
happens. Finally I was able to start pushing. I pushed for 2 hours
and even threw up a little. The doctor determined that I have a narrow
pelvis and I needed to have a c-section. They had to talk to me about
the risks of the epidural and surgery and everything which was scary
but at that point, I didn't really care, I just wanted it to be over
with. I quickly signed the permission form and they started to prep
me for surgery. The epidural hurt but it wasn't as bad as I thought
it would be. It actually took them giving me quite a few shots of
morphine for me to not feel anything. Brandon held my hand in the
OR. I must have been groggy or something because it seemed like
only 15 minutes but he says we were there about an hour.
Amelia Lynn was born on December 23rd, 2004 at 9:50pm weighing
in at 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 21 inches long. Brandon saw her first
and he saw the placenta too and said it looked like a steak! We
were lucky to have the c-section because the cord was around your neck.
After they cleaned her off and got me all put back together, they
laid her in my arms while they wheeled us to the recovery room.
Mia's 1st Christmas was spent in the hospital and we had many
visitors but she was the best Christmas present we could have
ever gotten. We came home the day after Christmas and Brandon
had to go back to training a week later."

Oh Wow Jen! I was holding my breath as I read this...LOL! So many things I can relate to, although not the C Section Thank Goodness. Love this real life, down to earth journaling. Love the photos and I have to tell you one of my first thoughts when I looked at the pics was, "Wow, Jen has her glasses on in the delivery room!" I don't know why I was surprised by this, but it was just one of the first things I noticed...LOL! A Beautiful Beautiful Treasure to Cherish...

I love the open, honest and detailed journaling. Really captures the memory of her birth for other generations to read down the road. Great picture clusters and the elements are perfect. Superb job Jen!

Wow! What a story that was Jen. I can imagine after all that work and labor that a c-section was starting to look good just to get your very special bundle of joy in time for Christmas. I read every word and loved the story. One day, Amelia will love reading this story. Kids love hearing about their birth.

I have a similar story. My daughter was 2 weeks late. I had induced labour for 2 days...told me to sleep and try again the next day. I too, ended up with a c-section. Love the way you journaled this and so will your daughter! Beautiful layout!

Great journaling of an important moment in the life of your family. I'm so glad everything eventually worked out well. You did an awesome job of including a lot of copy, but still having room for photos to illustrate the event. Amelia was a beautiful baby.

Jen these birth story pages are so fantastic! What a treasure for Mia to have when she is grown up. I like that you kept the same style for Mia & Patrick. You've inspired me. I need to do this for my three.
