Journaling reads:
"The night before we went in for the c-section, I was so anxious,
I couldn't sleep. I stayed up until 3am and then got up at 5am
to call the hospital so I only slept for 2 hours. We called labor and
delivery and they said it was ok for us to come in right away to
get started. We first went into a room where I got prepped for
surgery. They took blood to run some tests, started the IV,
and hooked me up to a monitor. The doctor told us that I was
very anemic at the time and there was a possibility that I
might need a blood transfusion. That got us worried a little.
They took me into the OR around 8:15am and Brandon sat in the
waiting room with Mia. He did that so I wouldn't be worrying
about her while in surgery. That was the last thing I needed
and it was good that he did too because it was so early and
she was a little cranky because she was tired.
They moved me onto the operating table and started the spinal.
They had to stick me twice to get it. It hurt of course but it
wasn't that bad. I had a hard time keeping still because I was
freezing and shivering so much. I was on a cold table wearing
only a hospital gown. I couldn't even have socks! After I was
numb it was awesome because I didn't feel a thing. I felt some
pressure with the epidural I had with Mia but I felt nothing at
all this time. The anesthesiologist stayed by me the whole time
and talked to me about what was going on and kept me calm. My BP
dropped to 65/33 and they gave me something to bring it back up
a little. Because of the numbing medication, it almost felt like
I couldn't breathe but I knew I was. I think it made me panic and
I threw up. It's weird throwing up when your muscles don't work
anymore. It just kinda came out on it's own and I didn't have that
whole body heaving. Finally I heard them say we have a head. Then a
second later I heard him cry and I started to cry. They got him out
and lowered the cover for a sec so I could see him then they whisked
him away to take care of him.
When a baby is born at the hospital, they play Twinkle Twinkle Little
Star over the intercom and Brandon told me he cried too when he heard
it! They tied my tubes and got me all put back together and I got to
see Patrick after they cleaned him up a little. Thankfully, everything
went so well during the surgery that I didn't need a blood transfusion
after all. They later said that I had hardly lost any blood at all. They
layed Patrick in my arms and wheeled me back to the room I started in.
Brandon and Mia came in and he finally got to hold him."

What amazing journaling Jen. You will be so glad to have these pages when he is old enough to ask you about when he was born. These are both terrific. SO BEAUTIFUL! They are just awesome. Thanks for sharing these precious memories with us.

Jen these two pages are as amazingly well done as Mia's. Your journaling is fantastic and has such detail. They are the best start to life birth story pages I've seen. Love the twinkle twinkle little star playing over the intercom. You've got yourself a tough little guy there!
